In a school in Nottingham parents are asked not to take
their dog with them while picking up their children. The doc owning parents
have complained. The Middleton Primary School asked the parents because
children felt intimidated by the dogs. One staff member has been bitten. The
parents have accused the school for being unreasonable and some of them are
going to ignore the request. They found it unreasonable and they say that the
school hasn’t the right to tell them where to walk their dogs. The school said
they made this “polite request “ only
for the health and safety of the children.
If the children are afraid of the dogs and a staff member is
bitten by one of the dogs I think the request isn’t unreasonable. For dog
owners it is always difficult to accept that a dog is not a human being. They
see their pets as members of the family and they can’t imagine that it is
possible to be frightened for their dog. It is also an option to tied up the dogs and so minimize the
risk that a child would be bitten. Personally I think it is better to leave the
dogs at home for a moment.

I think that one dog that bit a someone should be banned from school. what if one parent hits a teacher? Should all parents be prohibited from coming to school? Dogs are a part of society and they can teach us valuable lessons. The children should get over their fears.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSchools should provide a save environment for children. A save environment is needed to enable a good learning atmosphere. Many children are afraid of dogs, so exposing them to dogs before and after class could result in uncomforable feelings. The school board should prevent that. I agree with Marloes that children should get over their fears, but it is not the task of the school to force children to get in contact with dogs.
